Mosby’s Rangers Confederate Cavalry Shell Jacket | Gray Wool Civil War Reenactment Jacket
John Singleton Mosby, the “Gray Ghost,” is one of the most romantic figures of the Civil War. His command, the 43rd Battalion, 1st Virginia Cavalry, was organized in early 1863 and became known as Mosby’s Rangers or Mosby’s Raiders. This partisan ranger unit was famous for lightning-quick raids and for slipping away from Union pursuers, blending in with local farmers and townsmen. Its men sacked supply depots, attacked railroads and harassed Union troops. The region of northern central Virginia where Mosby operated with impunity was known then, and ever since, as “Mosby’s Confederacy.”
This shell jacket brings that cavalry look to your next event. It is made for Civil War reenactors, living historians, museum displays and collectors.
